Welcome to the Space Program You’re the newest recruit of Outer Wilds Ventures, a fledgling space program searching for answers in a strange, constantly evolving solar system. I don't personally feel cheated by not playing about half of it for myself because it was clearly a fabulous creation, it just absolutely wasn't for me. Outer Wilds is an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop. So it's a very bittersweet 8: a splendid expansion, but while accessibility options are nice, please don't treat them as a mystery for players to work out. Though less than inspired puzzles and some technical issues threaten to take the sheen off the experience, Outer Wilds nonetheless sits in a class all its own on PS4. And it was such a joy! And then I learned I could've made the game more accessible to myself and finished it alone, but it had never crossed my mind because being frightened was not the problem. Outer Wilds is a furiously imaginative work that elevates storytelling and player discovery to a whole new level. It's also especially punishing to people who are bad at that section due to all the extra journeying you have to make, so I just gave up and watched someone else finish it. But I wish they were more clear about what the Reduced Frights option did, because when I got to the relevant section, I was frustrated and annoyed and ultimately bored.
